Cuvelier Los Andes Coleccion Argentina Mendoza 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

Tasting Notes : I have been able to secure a great oppertuity on what many wine insiders believe to be the finest Meritage or Bordeaux blend for the money made year at the price of $37.99 . Parker first discovered the wine with the 2005 vintage and gave the wine 94 pts which is a remarkaeble score for the price point. We have been able to secure a small quantity of the 2004 Cuvelier Los Andes Grand Vin that I can offer you at $24.99 a bottle. This is a savings of over 30%. I tasted both wines last night and I think the 2004 is even better than the 2005. Both vinatges as a whole scored the same getting 90 pts by Spectator. Lovers of great red wine, lovers of great quality red wine, this is the best price to quality I have seen this year. The Grand Vin is a blend of 75% Malbec, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. It was aged in French oak for 12 months and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Inky purple, the wine has an alluring perfume of wood smoke, spice box, pencil lead, black cherry, and black currant. This leads to a medium to full-bodied wine with an intense attack, layers of spicy black fruits, licorice, and chocolate. All components are nicely integrated and lead to a lengthy, pure finish. This Bordeaux-inspired wine should blossom over the next 10-12 years and drink well through 2030.

The Cuvelier Los Andes Grand Vin 2004 is a blend made of 75% malbec, 15% merlot and 10% cabernet sauvignon. This blend reflects the Cuvelier family's know-how in the art of blends and expresses the particularity of malbec, the king type of vine in Argentina. The colour is deep. It has ripe aromas of black cherry and dark chocolate. The palate is charming, unctuous, poerful and concentrated with elegant fine-grained tannins. It is perfectly balanced and ends on a pleasant and long finish with a persistent retro olfaction.
