Cuvee Nue Reuilly Jean-Louis-Beurdin 2011

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine for £9.50 from a wine shop in Hampstead London [www.oddbins.com].Reuilly is an AOC for wine from around the village of that name between the rivers Cher and Arnon, tributerys of the Loire, about 20 miles east of the town of Bourges and about 30 miles south-west of its more prestigious neighbour Sancerre. The whites are made from sauvignon blanc and the reds from pinot noir.Jean-Louis-Beurdin [www.domaine-beurdin.fr] is a third generation winemaker who has called this wine Cuvee Nue or naked in English because he has not used any oak.I started my bottle last night to accompany my meal of cod in a cheese sauce and I enjoyed it.There is an elderflower or lime style fruit there but not a very intense fruit and it was quite mineral. I have been spoiled by the superb sauvignon blanc I had a few weeks ago [The Domaine de Villargeau] but it was an OK wine although nothing to write home about and reasonable value for money
