What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

W&S 92 - WE 91 - Winemaker Notes - Cuvaisons Carneros Chardonnay comes from our 400-acre estate in the southern part of Napa Valley. This cool climate vineyard allows us nearly perfect conditions year after year to produce world class Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Merlot. Controlling all farming aspects within our own vineyard gives Cuvaison an advantage in producing the best quality fruit therefore minimizing over manipulation at the winery. Winemaker Steven Rogstad sums it up best, My style and philosophy are based on expressing the unique character of our estate grapes and doing as little read more...

Nice value in rich Napa Chardonnay. Lovely buttered apple and creme fraiche aromas. Tangy creme fraiche dominates the flavors, with a crisp apple finish and a bit of melon, as well. Buttery, without being oaky. 8 mos French oak program.

Rating: 92/100 - As reviewed by Wine & Spirits Magazine on 08/09 Slice a late summer Bosc pear over puff pastry and bake it-the tart will taste a lot like the flavors of this chardonnay. It's grown at Cuvaison's estate vineyard, on 30-year-old vines. Though tightly built, the wine broadens into the finish, refreshed by a bristle of acidity. Decant it for roast veal with chanterelles.
