"Sourced from the South Island of New Zealand, this Sauvignon Blanc exhibits complexity and a vibrant zing. Flavors of Meyer lemons and Key limes integrate with hints of grapefruit, gooseberry and citrus, culminating in a long, creamy finish. Long, cool seasons in New Zealand’s Marlborough region allow our grapes to mature slowly and gain character and complexity. The grapes are harvested at night and gently crushed before undergoing cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks. An extended fermentation sur lie adds richness and softness, complementing the fruit’s natural zest and acidity."-Producer

Our winery is located in Monterey County, California where warm days give way to cool nights as the fog rolls in off of the Pacific Ocean. It’s this cooling influence that slows the growing process, increasing the time the grapes “hang” on the vine and thereby allow our grapes to mature a little slower than in hotter regions. Slow growth and cool weather leads to a more balanced level of acids and sugars, thereby adding to the complexity and structure of the wines of the Central Coast. This region is poised to become one of the newest and most exciting viticultural opportunities in the coming years. This slow pace continues in our cellar where we take the time to craft wines that are complex, rewarding and hand made. Gentle pressing, cool fermentation, malolactic fermentation, and long barrel aging in small barriques allow us to elevate our wines so that they are rich, creamy and downright delicious. Our winemaker, Adam Richardson has since added a few additional wines from other cool climate regions to augment our portfolio and match up with additional cupcake profiles, like our Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, Yakima Valley Riesling, and Mendoza Malbec. The 2013 Sauv Bl is a bit light in extract. Citrus and slight Gardenia nose. Lemon in the mouth. Light color but good acid. Pleasant wine. My rating -- 83.

Our vineyard works hard to bring you the zestiest,most refreshing Sauvignon Blanc from the cool Marlborough Valley. Here the grapes mature slowly, giving them complexity and a vibrant zing, reminiscent of a lemon chiffon cupcake. The aromas are integrated, delighting the senses with flavors of Meyer lemons, Key limes and a finish that awakens the appetite. Cupcake Sauvignon Blanc is a beautiful expression of this grape from the highly regarded Marlborough appellation of New Zealand. This white wine gem is made from 100% Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. At the northeastern tip of the South Island of New Zealand, Marlborough enjoys a temperate climate with high sunshine hours, moderate day temperatures and cool nights. The region is ideally suited to producing aromatic wines showing strong intensity of grape variety. The long cool season allows the grapes to mature slowly, giving them complexity and a vibrant zing reminiscent of a lemon chiffon cupcake! Cupcake Sauvignon Blanc is pale yellow-green in color. It is crisp and light with aromas of grapefruit, gooseberry and citrus and boasts rich flavors of Meyer lemons and Key limes. A big, rich wine from California’s Central Coast, our full and elegantly textured Chardonnay has decadent levels of butter, cream, bright citrus and vanilla. These layers melt into a balance of oak and subtle spice. This wine epitomizes the Central Coast’s crisp and vibrant Chardonnay character. We use a malolactic fermentation to impart rich buttery flavor, then leave the wine sur lie to achieve a full, soft body.
