Cupcake Riesling 2009
This years Cupcake Dry Riesling is bold, with the luscious aromas and flavors of grapefruit, pineapple and nectarine. We maintain a regimen of stirring the wine on its lees to add a creamy mid palate and long subtle finish. True to form, this wine finishes with length and leaves one wanting another glass. Enjoy with any and all Asian cuisine, shellfish risotto, or a spicy chicken tagine.
The main component here is a very tart granny smith apple cider. Great for summer nights and pairing with Thai food. Could use a little more bottle age. In a year this will mellow out and be spectacular.
Finding it rather bland and lacking distinctive taste of any kind
Was very acidic and lemony at first, which put me off to it. It sat in the fridge as a cooking wine until I felt I needed a white to accompany a meal and it was the only white left. Seemed sweeter and was more pleasant the second time around, maybe hints of honey? I can't be sure it was the wine opening up that changed the flavor (it may have been my palette).
A nice nose that blends floral notes with layered orchard and citrus fruits. This smells fresh and snappy. Rather lean on entry with vibrant acidity and a nice mineral/machine oil edge to the almond milk-edged citrus fruits. This has nice inner mouth perfumes and real succulent acids. It’s pretty dry with just enough sugar to give the acidity some buffering and lend this some flesh. Finishes a bit on the short side. 86pts MINERAL/MACHINE OIL EDGE ?!??!? what kind of description is this. I dont want to drink machine oil !!!! no thanks, I'll stay away from this one. BAD BAD description !!!!

Unlikely to improve with further aging.
From Yakima Valley grapes, this is a solidly made Riesling with just a trace of sweetness. Citrus fruits, lemon oil and hints of tea and honey fill out the palate, which has a pleasing roundness.
