What to Expect

Touriga Nacional is the primary grape used in the production of Port wines. It is increasingly being bottled as a dry red wine and produces a rich, slightly rustic wine that has a deep earthy core of blackberry and mulberry fruit balanced by aromas of flowers, tobacco and rosemary.

Winemakers Notes

Simon Woods on Harpers Wine & Spirit March 2009 wrote of this great Touriga blend: "many believe the Douro to be Portugal’s top red wine region, but the top wines from Dão for me compete on quality and are usually cheaper". This blend of Touriga Nacional, Rufete, Alfrocheiro Preto, Tinta Roriz and Bastardo serves up raspberry, plum and tobacco flavours, encased in a tangy, peppery overcoat. Lovely, lively and refreshing red. Great with Pork Belly.
