Very dark black plum color--pretty close to opaque. Bright, berry nose. Wow, first palate impression is very smoothe. Some blackberry hints, maybe, a touch of strawberry. Bit of spice--maybe, anise. Very tame tannins. Very pleasant finish. US$29.99 at WIne Club in Santa Ana.

Cune is produced by the fifth generation of the founders of CVNE, mainly from handpicked Tempranillo grapes. Layered, rich aromas of tobacco, ripe blueberry, and anise seed are complimented by grippy tannins and waves of fruit and spice.

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2005 Gran Reserva is 90% Tempranillo and aged 20% in American and 80% French oak for 18 months. It has a flamboyant bouquet of kirsch, orange peel and earthy, cedar aromas that soar from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine focus and poise. It bounds along with pure dark cherry and raspberry fruit that are cut through by a silver thread of acidity. It is very harmonious and clean, with an attractive note of leather and dark chocolate towards the finish...93" WA 8/12
