Food Pairings for Cullen Margaret River White
Cullen’s 28 hectares of vineyards are located in the Margaret River, an area renowned for producing wines of character and depth. The grapes for this wine come from the subregion of Wilyabrup. Cullen Wines became the first carbon neutral winery and vineyard in Australia. The estate vineyard was certified Organic ‘A’ grade in 2003 and Biodynamic ‘A’ grade in 2004 by the Biological Farmers Association of Australia. The grapes for this wine are grown on the Cullen and Mangan vineyards. The soils here are old, granite and gravely sandy loam, overlaying lateric subsoils. This Sauvignon blend is Light straw in colour with green tinges. On the nose it is lightly perfumed, with hints of lemon, lime and a slightly richer, vanilla custard note added by the Chardonnay. On the palate it is vibrant, rich, round and complex, reflecting the range of varieties in the blend. It is nicely balanced with an attractive weight lifted by a zesty finish.
