Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

The 1994 Croft exhibits an impressive dark ruby/purple color, and a developed, forward, more evolved style than expected. It is moderately sweet, full-bodied, expansive, pure, and rich, but made in an up-front, flattering style. Although outstanding, it is not one of the superstars of the vintage. It will keep for twenty years. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2020.

Opaque blackish hue with a ruby edge. Full-bodied. Balanced acidity. Highly extracted. Moderately tannic. Black fruits, licorice, lacquer. Quite aromatic with an extremely rich and flavorful mouthfeel. Dark and powerful flavors have a fine grip and intensity, while the full-throttle character of the wine's other components bode well for decades of cellars.

The essence of grapes. Full-bodied and tannic, yet very classy and refined. It's got grip, but rather than smashing you over the head with structure, it seduces gently with its wonderful, well-toned muscles. Best Croft since 1945. Better after 2010.

Incredible aromas of crushed blackberry and raspberry. Full-bodied and medium sweet, with a very velvety and round texture. Goes on and on. Gorgeous vintage Port. Drink now through 2015.

This impressive vintage port may turn out to be the most impressive wine from Croft in decades. The healthy purple/black color is followed by copious amounts of licorice, chocolate, and over-ripe black fruits. Full- bodied and unctuously-textured, with layers of juicy, succulent, full-throttle fruit, glycerin, high alcohol, and powerful tannin, this large-scaled, youthful vintage port will benefit from 7-10 years of cellaring. It should drink well for 30+ years.

The 2003 Croft Vintage Port reveals an opaque, black-colored core with notes of dark ruby on the rim. Its gorgeously creamy, profound nose displays sweet dark cherries, black plums, pepper, raisin jam, and blueberries. Thick, satin-textured, and immensely rich, this opulent yet elegant wine is engagingly warm, concentrated, and harmonious. Copious quantities of plums, black cherries, jammy blackberries and spices are found throughout its personality as well as in its prolonged, spirit-tinged, finish. Projected maturity: 2020-2045.

Gorgeous aromas of blueberry and dried flowers follow through to a sweet, full-bodied palate. Velvety and round, with lovely fruit. Long finish. Best after 2015.
