Croft Fine Ruby Port NV
Roêda has long been recognised as one of the great Port vineyards and in the Douro Valley there is a common saying, attributed to the nineteenth century poet Vega Cabral, which goes ‘if the wine district were a golden ring, Roêda would be the diamond’.
a pretty substantially bodied port for the price along with all the typical raisin, spice, and dried dark fruit notes that follow easily to the palette.
This NV Porto is simple and lacking the complexity and power of the LBV wines. Some tar character is evident but it is not prominent. Not a good value at $11. Spend an extra $4 and get an LBV. My rating -- 82.
