Croft Bottle 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Jancis review: Very bright, deep crimson. Smells almost overripe! Some burnt notes and even a hint of oak (can that be..?) and only then settles down into the tannic depths. Extremely youthful and unformed at this stage with, apparently, lots of disparate elements. Note of greenness on the finish. Not sure about this one. The oddest wine of the vintage?

(Jancis Robinson MW - jancisrobinson.com - May 09)

Croft - Vinhos, S.A:
Roêda has long been recognised as one of the great Port vineyards and in the Douro Valley there is a common saying, attributed to the nineteenth century poet Vega Cabral, which goes ‘if the wine district were a golden ring, Roêda would be the diamond’.
