What to Expect

Oregon has only recently emerged as a source for premium wine and is winning fans over to their somewhat earthy style of Pinot Noir. With vineyards a bit cooler than most of California's, yet warmer still than Burgundy, Oregon's Pinot Noirs feature a synthesis of ripe fruit, ripe structure and transparency that draws on the strengths of both. The wines tend to have a touch of earthiness and a sense of transparency that many Pinots from California lack yet the fruit profile, full of dark berries, is decidedly warm-climate in nature.

Really impressive Pinot with great bang for the buck. Even at a very young age, it has really nice ripe fruit up front, big smooth body throughout. Loved it!

This Pinot Noir is a medium garnet color. On the nose it is showing cola berry, oolong tea and wild berry aromas. It has the 'signature' Mt. Jefferson liveliness on the palate with bright, juicy red cherry flavors that echo on the finish. There are more complex flavors of earth and spice evident on the palate but they need a little time to show through more completely. This Pinot Noir will develop nicely in the short to medium term

Nose of earth and berries. Tastes typical of most Oregon Pinots, earthy, leather, with nice berry fruit and a touch of chocolate. Excellent - 88 points.

This deep garnet colored Pinot Noir has an exotic, rich nose that includes black currants, licorice, cinnamon and hints of a dying rose. The intensity of the fruit continues on the palate with lots of ripe blackberries, plums and currants along with some cedar and oolong tea. Throughout this very multi-faceted wine there is an underlying backbone of savory tannin and acid that holds the whole thing together even as it evolves in the glass over several hours. This is a very complex wine that begs for food and will surely improve with additional agin for many years. ~Steve Doerner

Light red color. Sexy strawberry and raspberry aromas are complicated by tomato leaf and baking spices. Red fruit flavors display a jammy, sweet character and are enlivened by juicy acidity. This racy, sharply focused, light-bodied wine leads with red fruit today and is very easy to drink. Stephen Tanzer International Wine Cellar
