Cristom Pinot Noir Eola Amity Hills Jessie Vineyard 2007
The Eileen Vineyard is the northern-most vineyard in the Cristom plot. The 12 acres are planted with 4 different Pinot Noir clones including the pommard clone. At 550 - 700 feet above sea level, it provides an ideal climate and growing conditions for the fruit. The vines were planted in 1997 and provide a fresh, young, juicy but restrained wine.
An excellent wine - deliciously smooth with hints of cherry, currant, and other dark berry flavors. A bit heavier than some of the other Cristom Pinot Noirs.
This is another great pinot noir from Cristom. I have a slight preference to the 2007 Eileen Vineyard over the Jessie Vineyard, both unquestionably great pinot noir. The 2007 Eileen Vineyard pinot noir is very smooth without a single sharp edge. Everything is in perfect balance. Upon opening the bottle, the beatiful aromas come at you. Raspberries, strawberries, dark cherries along with some floral and spice notes. The wine tastes of cherries, plums, strawberries, and a hints of blue berries. Soft notes of cocoa and baking spice complete the flavors. The finish is silky, pleasant, and long lasting
