Cristal Rosé 2000
Berry Bros & Rudd review: The lavish 2000 Louis Roederer vintage is bursting with ripe fruit
flavours and an elegant brioche personality. A blend of wines from only the
finest Crus, this is luxuriously rich and full-bodied, and exceptionally
sumptuous, vinuous Champagne that could easily replace a white Burgundy in food
pairings.

This is an exceptional wine, as is the vintage. The fruits-grapefruit, crisp red apple-balance with a fine yeasty character. There is a great depth of flavor, the fruits going in a pure line of freshness. The one problem is that it is much too young, the result of the demand from the market for the next vintage. Age this wine for at least four years.
One of the finest Champagnes I have ever brought to my lips, the 1999 Cristal bursts from the glass with fresh hazelnut and apple scents. Elegant, deep, and silky-textured, this medium to full-bodied beauty is immensely concentrated, pure, packed with apple flavors, and astoundingly long in the finish.
Intriguing and complex, with enticing aromas of fig, butter and toast, backed by mouth-filling flavors of pear, cream and apple. Long on the finish, too. Gorgeous, refined and balanced. Drinkable now through 1997.
Young, clean and restrained. Deep toasty notes well up with time in the glass, but the feeling is that this sparkler will really start to shine in five years. Complex and full-bodied, this venerable house has hit its grand mark once again.
Still delicious, but not quite as impressive as a bottle tasted last year. Rich and full, with aromas and flavors of baked apples and citrus and an easygoing finish.
Founded in 1776, Roederer took over in 1833 and began producing some of the world's finest champagne. Toast and vanilla are prevalent in this high class quaff.
For subscribers who are able to defer their patience, yet want to lay away a potentially long-lived Champagne, I highly recommend the Louis Roederer 1990 Cristal, it's awesome! A classic of power and finesse, richness and delicacy, it may be the greatest Cristal I have ever tasted!
