Dominio del Plata is a family-owned and run project of Susana Balbo (Enologist) and Pedro Marchevsky (Viticulturist). The core philosophies that they share, and that figure prominently in the production of their wines, are the following: Precision Viticulture This is a grape-growing philosophy that demands attention to detail, however small. The planting of the vineyards, varietal selections, vineyard management systems, water management, canopy conduction, sanitary precautions and harvesting decision are all managed personally by Pedro and Susana in order to achieve the highest quality standards. Sustainable Agriculture The entire project is specially designed and implemented in a way that doesn’t harm the natural resources, preserves the environment, functions according to social requirements, and at the same time maintains productivity in order to remain economically competitive. Superior Winemaking Skills Our winemaking skills and professional knowledge have been developed over more than two decades through intensive and prolonged education and research. From this accumulated knowledge, we have designed and constructed a winery that employs state-of-the-art enological technology for the processing of grapes and therefore the production of high-quality wine. Love and Passion Knowledge and experience are not the only keys to successful winemaking. Every step of top-quality wine production demands a love and a passion for the winemaking process in order to obtain a successful result. The dedication and diligence of our entire family working in the vineyard, in the winery and for the marketing of the wines gives the company its unique character. The constant search for perfection and the appreciation for fine wine, as well as our relationships with the people that contribute to the success of the winery, is physically embodied in the beauty of the Dominio del Plata Winery. Good full medium ruby. Crushed blackberry, licorice and violet on the lively nose. Quite ripe and sweet in the mouth, showing impressive volume and breadth for the price range. Finishes with serious ripe tannins and noteworthy persistence. Susanna Balbo’s son Jose Lovaglio, who took over the Crios label with this vintage, has gone to all French oak and somewhat warmer fermentations.

Game, mocha and spice notes lead to ripe dark cherry and black currant fruit character, with medium tannins and a tinge of maduro tobacco on the finish. Drink now.

Bright cherry flavors emerge in this lively and refreshing roseacute; for grilled scallops.

A touch tight, but with a good medium-weight, juicy core of crushed plum, macerated currant and blackberry fruit. A nice twinge of licorice keeps this honest on the finish. Drink now.

The 2008 Malbec spent 8 months in first use French oak. Dark ruby-colored, it offers up an alluring bouquet of Asian spices, cassis, cedar, incense, and black cherry. Medium-bodied, savory, and elegant, this spicy Malbec will also provide pleasure over the next 4 years.

This rosé is deep cherry in color and made from the Malbec grape variety, which has been absolutely thriving in Argentina's Mendoza region lately. This is very easy to drink: ripe, soft, and full of dark berry fruit on the palate - black cherries and red currants. Susana Balbo and her husband have been making wine in Argentina for over 25 years, producing many excellent wines that are well worth a try.

Tangy and minerally, the 2008 Crios Malbec showed bright aromas and flavors of sweet blueberry and blackberry; modest notes of vanilla and spice illustrate her judicious use of oak. Itrsquo;s straightforward, with a juicy finish and fairly plush tannins. I gave it 88 points, non-blind. Itrsquo;s great with a steak, but also enjoyable on its own and would make a great party wine.
