Classic Torrontes aromatics, this is all about lemon blossom, a touch of sage and a big core of lemon drop candy. In the mouth it's big and rich but a touch sweet which makes it seem a bit ponderous. This really needs to be served chilled and is an attractive cocktail wine. 85pts

This is tart and pleasing. I recommend it with dishes involving white fish, scallops or shrimps. The brightness of this wine will cut any rich sauce that might attend your meal, and it is a pleasing accompaniment to seafood that is singing a capella as well.

Offers luxurious lychee aromas and mouth-filling citrus flavors with an acidic but not overpowering bite – a fine representation of Argentina’s indigenous white. (AV 87, http://argovino.com/?p=176)

Although fairly new to the Torrontes varietal, I have tasted 20+ of them, and I must say that this is my favorite. If you aren't familiar, Torrontes are like a mix between Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc. This has a floral nose, with hints of honey-dew, citrus and a little spice. It has flavors of peach, tangerine and honey that are accompanied with mouth-watering acidity (much like a Sauv Blanc, with Viognier flavors). The finish is refreshing and tangy, should go great fatty fish.

Nice Torrentes, well worth the 11.99 price.

Nice Torrontes. Now part of the Polaner family, I understand, which is known to handle only quality wines (usually much smaller producers than this).

Fine wines that blend grapes from three provinces aren’t common in Argentina, and they’re even less common for export. This one has a blend of tropical flavors coming through in the bouquet, including pineapple and mango. In the mouth the wine is more tart and a touch bitter at the end, but rich and pleasurable overall. José Lovaglio, who has taken over as winemaker from his mother Susana Balbo, is off to a good start!

The 2012 Crios Torrontes comes from Cafayate in Salta, Altamira and La Rioja from 33-year-old vines. It has much more presence and vivacity than the Chardonnay, with scents of lime, peach and melon that are well-defined. The palate is well-balanced with a prickle of white pepper on the entry. It displays moderate length in the mouth, while the finish is crisp and taut. with notes of pear, bruised apple and dried orange peel. This is worth seeking out for the price. Drink now–2014.

Pale, bright silver-yellow color. Highly perfumed aromas of lemon drop, white flowers, peppermint and white pepper. Supple, pliant and easygoing, with citrus, herbal and floral flavors joined by a hint of licorice. Shows a touch of heat on the finish. Offers good weight in the mouth but seems less intense than the 2011. Susana Balbo declassified a lot of fruit in the difficult 2012 harvest, making this wine mostly from Mendoza vines planted to the Salta clone of torrontes, as she finds the Mendoza clone’s flavors too fleeting.

.On the palate, it has beautiful structure and acidity similar to Sauvignon Blanc along with enticing fruit flavors that keep you coming back for another sip and plenty of body for a wine that shows such delicate aromas and flavors.

Enticing aromas of orange blossom, peach, licorice, mint and white flowers. Juicy, spicy and firm, with lovely inner-mouth floral perfume to the peach and lichee flavors. A slight phenolic quality gives the wine grip without bitterness. Comes across as dry not austere, thanks to a few grams of residual sugar. Should make a lovely aperitif.

This zesty white features notes of fennel-accented clementine and peach, as hints of white flower fill the finish. Drink now.

Fruity, floral and yet still quite dry, this wine has to be tasted to be believed. Best enjoyed in its youth either by itself, or as a wonderful partner with smoked meats, mild to medium-strong cheeses, and seafood (especially crab!)."-Importer
