Craneford Cabernet Sauvignon Barossa Valley John Zilm 2005

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought two bottles of this wine for £20 from the www.cellartrade.co.uk website. It is 100% cabernet sauvignon from vines up to 80 years old that spent time in oak barrels. The Barossa valley is named after the nearby Barossa hills, although the river that runs through it is called the North Para river, and is located about 40 miles north-east of the City of Adelaide in South Australia. It is one of Australia's best known and renowned wine making regions with a history going back to the mid 19th century.I started a bottle last night with my pasta bake supper. This is a beautifully structured full bodied wine with lots of a concentrated blackcurrant, plum and cherry style fruit with a hint of vanilla and smoke on the finish. The best words to describe it are succulent and gorgeous
