Crane Lake is a value-driven brand produced by Franzia and Bronco Wine Company. The majority of these wines are produced in California, with some branching out into Australia (for Down Under Chardonnay and others). These are available in supermarkets and most retailers.
a BBQ wine at a good price. Color-deep indigo; nose-plums; mouth-red fruit & spice; finish-lean; buy it drink it.
Excellent and recommended bargain wine - every bit as good as many that cost nearly three times as much. For less than $5/bottle - it's a winner, is full bodied, and perhaps one of their better selections. If it was poured in a decanter and aerated and served in a fancy atmosphere - you'd probably have no clue that it was a bargain wine.
I've enjoyed several crane lake wines. The petit syrah is well above average. The pinot noir is very good as well.
Crane Lake Petite Sirah 2007 - I have bought two cases from the Pennsylvania Wines and Spirits store. Would like to purchanse more. Delicious, great nose, legs, and flavor of currant but not too much fruit. Fantastic for the price!
