Not a bad wine for casual, every day dining. Always a crowd pleaser.

This was a surprise Merlot. It was on sale at the local Lowes food store. We were having a party where the wine knowledge was elementary, so we didn't want to spend a lot. Now much to our surprise, the wine was a great buy in the price range. Fruit forward, but on the light side. I rate this around the same or better than "2 buck chuck". If you find it on sale buy at least 6 since our local store sold out quickly!!!!

As with all the Crane Lake I have enjoyed a simple merlot that isn't very complex but easy to drink.

Has a medium depth pushing dark. It smells fruity but not blowzy with a since of cherry and acidity. Light tannins and low acid in the mouth and a lighter body than usual Merlot, but still medium. But, After it sits for a while the acidity almost becomes unbearable. Has a taste of plum and dark cherry. The finish starts off steady but moves to a watery vinegar.

Light and refreshing with currant and blackberry flavors. Soft with layers of cherry and bright cedar. A delightful example of California Merlot.

Good five-buck wine. Dry, full-bodied and juicy in youthful berry jam, and even a kiss of smoky oak.

Simple, forward red cherry fruit and pleasingly grainy tannins make this an approachable wine for right now. Match those tannins with a pork chop.

Crane Lake Merlot is a light refreshing red with a nose of currants and blackberries. This wine is medium bodied with soft layers of cherry and bright cedar on the palate. Medium tannins and a smooth drinkable finish make this an excellent California Merlot for the price.
