Craggy Range Te Muna Road Vineyard 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Spectator Review Rated 94 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED A velvet caress, with effusive spice box, generous cedary oak, black cherry, black pepper and ripe plum nuances. Fruit concentration blossoms through the finish, with crushed stone notes and round, supple tannins. Additional bottle age will integrate the oak. Drink now through 2011. Wine Tasting Notes Craggy Range Te Muna Road Pinot Noir is highly colored, with youthful purple highlights. The complex aromas of black cherries, dark stone fruit and sweet herbs are offset by notes of forest, spice and nutty oak. These are confirmed on the palate, with classic varietal cherry and blackberry flavors and nuances of spice, herbs and vanilla. The texture is sensuous and the structure velvety, with extended length and refined power.

The nose initially was quite restrained, but after opening up for a few hours it had a great smell of cherry and plum. The most amazing part is the mouth-feel, with a really fantastic texture and weight. Excellent wine and would no doubt improve after a few years.

Medium bodied, which is rather surprising in a pinot, but I really love. Lots of red fruit but can detect bits of black. A versatile pinot since it has enough strength to pair with a nice prime rib but still retaining the delicacy to go with chicken or pork. That being said, it was excellent when I had it, but would probably be better if decanted for 1 to 2 hours, which is what I'm planning to do the next time I open a bottle.

Refined, with excellent intensity to spice, berry, black cherry and rose petal accents. Fresh herb undertones, minerals and nicely integrated oak underscore the intense finish. Drink now through 2011. 1,725 cases imported. -DS Wine Spectator. A Pinot Noir wine from in New Zealand. 2006 Craggy Range Te Muna Road Vineyard Pinot Noir 750ml

A beautiful, velvety Pinot Noir with plum, cherry, and lots of oak. This is a highly allocated item, so grab a bottle while it lasts.
