Very crisp on the nose with hints of apple, nectarine and minerals. In the mouth this is lush and a touch soft yet retaining a sense of delicacy. The flavors are rather mineral and rather crabapple-driven that carry through on the almost-salty finish. A bit unusual but distinctly attractive. 88pts

Great pure chardonnay nose of lively crisp fruit, oak and baked apple. Crisp acidity on the palate. Nice pear with slight lime hints. Apple tones. Clean and nice. - Tasted at Marché Bacchus 6/26/10

Kidnappers Chardonnay 2008 - Craggy Range : Kidnappers Chardonnay 2008 - Weißwein von Craggy RangeDieser Chardonnay stammt von Cape Kidnappers. Im Frühjahr und Herbst gibt es dort einige sonnig-warme Tage. Dank der kühlenden Meeresbrisen wird es selbst im Sommer nie zu heiß. Neben einem sortenreinen Lagenwein liefert der Ort überdies eine Legende. 1769 versuchte Kapitän Cook an dieser Stelle mit Maori zu handeln. Während er ins Gespräch vertieft war, entführten die Eingeborenen einen der Diener aus seiner Crew, einen Tahitianer. Mit einem beherzten Sprung ins Wasser konnte dieser sich jedoch irgendwann selbst befreien. Cook ließ Segel hissen und vergaß die Episode. In Cape Kidnappers lebt sie fort.Zart gelb schimmert der Weißwein im Glas und wird zum Rand hin von lebhaft grünlichen Reflexen umspielt. Das reichhaltige Bukett wird von Aromen geprägt, die an Zitronenschalen und Mandeln erinnern. Der Kidnappers Chardonnay 2008 von Craggy Range präsentiert sich kantig und eisern am Gaumen. Weißer Pfirsich und Austern dominieren im Geschmack, der von einem langen und würzigen Finale gekrönt wird.
