Cousiño-Macul Riesling Doña Isidora 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

Cousino Macul seems to have mastered the production of value-priced Chardonnay. Featuring toasty pear, apple, and tropical fruit aromas and flavors, it has excellent depth and concentration, superior balance, and a lengthy, pure finish. It is a great value in well-made Chardonnay competing with wines twice the price." Rbert Parker's Wine Advocate

Butter, vanilla, fennel seed, toasty oak spice, baked apple and lemon curd all come together on this rather classic nose. Fairly restrained on entry, this shows some butteriness on the palate along with simple if clear flavors of apple and lots of mango. The toasty spice kicks in on the backend with a strong vein of vanilla driving the moderately long, slightly dry and vaguely tannic finish. By the number Chardonnay. 86pts

This is an appealing, well structured Chardonnay with generous aromas of toast, honey and ripe tropical fruits. A buttery, rich wine with gently oaky flavors on the palate, it matches well with fish, salads and white meat dishes.

A distinctive wine with aromas of wildflowers, citrus and spices. Slightly more body and a richer texture than his cousin the Sauvignon Blanc
