Cousiño-Macul Merlot Antiguas Reservas 2006
`The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Antiguas Reservas is 100% varietal and saw time in barrique. It is purple-colored with a slightly brooding nose of black currant and blackberry. This leads to a medium to full-bodied wine with some elegance excellent depth and savory flavors. It has enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years but can be enjoyed now. It will be at its best from 2010 to 2018.` 90 points Wine Advocate
Deep cherry oak on the nose, the mouth begins with smoked wood and ash followed by stone fruit and currant. The warmth lingers, and a small to moderate residual sugar fills it out. This wine is very good for the price. The tannins are a bit under-ripe, I may try this one again.
Note: this was 24 hours after opening. Earthy and leathery nose, in the mouth the fruit (black cherry) was still decent. There was a lot of coffee and licorice notes, the coffee really dominated. Firm tannins, even after this length of time open. Finish was short, but like i said it had been open a while. Prob best to try this again in 6 months - it is just an 06.
It is straw colored and pours cleanly. The nose is pear, citrus, apple, white flowers and a bit of toast. Although aged in oak, this is not an oaky chardonnay. The flavor of apple, pear and grapefruit are nicely balanced. The finish reveals a whiff of oak, but wonderfully integrated and balanced. This balance is rare in a wine in this price range.
Dry and dusty blackberry, or is that blackcurant? and a light chocolate/vanilla aroma. Slightly jammy flavour makes its way through the dust with well rounded tannins giving a relatively smooth mouth feel. Finishes nicely, if a little quickly. $19.99 Cdn (and selected as best chilean cab sav sold in bc liquor stores in the $18-22 range by James Cluer).
Kind of a crowd pleaser. Pears, matchstick, kettle corn, and lemon aromas come out of this clear and bright pale straw colored wine. It enters the mouth with mild citrus and golden delicious apples surrounded by oak and weight down by butter. Luckily the well-balanced acids keep your interest well into the long finish. A great bargain Would I drink this regularly? Why not? But, in reality, it isn't my cup of Chard so I probably wouldn't.
Mouth-filling, tannic, and chewy, just like a good cab should be.
This wine is a great everyday wine if you like cabs. It is well rounded with great cab floavors and a nice finish. The alcohol isn't overwhelming like so many 15 dollar cabs and the fruit is soft and crisp.

Excellent quality from one of the most consistently good wineries of Chile. Full-bodied, dark-fruited, earthy with ripe tannins.
Clear, brilliant golden colour. A surprisingly fresh and sharp bouquet, with predominating touches of juicy pineapple, French lemon peel and other citrus notes. It is fresh, sparkly, and deliciously joyful on the palate.

Full-bodied with elegant tannins, it shows luscious flavoursof blackberry, currant, cocoa, soy and sweet oak spices. The solid core ofdelicious concentrated black fruits is framed by light toasty oak and ripetannin. The supple and seamless theme continues into the long, ultrasmoothfinish.

One of the best values in Cabernet Sauvignon. It has remarkable concentration and style with blackberry and plum fruit characteristics with notes of violets and chocolate. A Chilean First Growth.
Deep and dark, this red blend is complex. Blackberries, violets and cocoa abound in the bouquet with cherries, rosemary and black truffle appearing on the palate. Lengthy, spicy finish with subtle tannins.
Wine Tasting NotesPale straw in color, this wine offers lively aromas of golden delicious apples, lime, pink grapefruit and a hint of hazelnuts and creme brulee from the barrel fermentation. On the palate, it is rich and viscous with flavors of apples, vanilla, tropical fruit and minerals. It finishes pleasantly long with the apple fruit and subtle minerality lingering to the end. This is a food-friendly wine that can be enjoyed with crab cakes, roasted chicken and pan fried fish.
