Cousino Macul Maipo Valley Chardonnay 2012

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Bright and floral on the nose with a ginger and cinnamon edge to the very ripe core of pineapple laden fruit. Creamy at first, with an initial wave of very ripe pineapple and mango fruit framed with gently toasted spice and vanilla. This gains focus in the mouth, though it remains with very ripe fruit flavors if lively and fresh feeling on the palate. The backend turns creamy again, gaining more toasted spice notes before this fades rather quickly on the modest finish. Front loaded and fairly rich on the palate, this should be quite popular. 86pts

Aromen von Honig, Äpfeln und Orangen. Sehr ausgewogen mit einem langen Abgang.

This fruity Chardonnay has an attractive straw colour, with a few greentints typical of its youth. It has a clean expression of orange peel, mandarinand apple aromas with a tropical note of mango. In the backgroundthere are notes of jasmine and honeysuckle. Medium bodied, there areimmediate juicy flavours of lemons, mandarins and, more subtly of limes. It is balanced, very vibrant and silky.

This is truly one of the best Chardonnays coming from Chile these days. Full of straightforward varietal character and flavor, this is an unbeatable value.
