Cousiño-Macul Chardonnay Antiguas Reservas 2003

Winemaker's Notes:

In 1998, Familia Martínez Bujanda decided to look for somewhere to build a new bodega. They settled on the best, highest-altitude area of La Mancha DO, and acquired a 1000 hectare estate, with 421 hectares under vine. Named after the old vines already growing there, Finca Antigua combines the latest technology and time-honoured winemaking traditions with stunning results. The Finca Antigua vineyard is located at 900 metres above sea level, providing cool nights to temper the hot summer days. This wine has high aromatic intensity, with very a complex nose of fresh mint and thyme, then hints of cedar, juniper and spicy touches of cloves, ginger and aniseed from the new French oak. It is smooth and unctuous on the palate, with no sharp edges and flavours of fresh blueberries. Best served between 15-17C with duck and venison.
