The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Antiguas Reserva remains one of the finest Cabernet values anywhere (the price has remained unchanged for years). Nicely structured on the palate, this elegant, Bordeaux-like Cabernet will evolve for a minimum of five years and drink well through 2025.
Cousiño-Macul is a 927 acre estate, including vineyards and an historic 19th century park on the hillside sloping up to the Andes. The vineyard was first planted in the 16th century, but it was not until the Cousio family purchased the Macul estate in the 1850s that French cuttings of Bordeaux varieties were planted there (in 1860). Since that time, Cousiño-Macul has developed a reputation as the greatest vineyard in Chile, based primarily on the capacity of its Cabernet to develop as it ages. The love of their wines and pride in their family is a long tradition, keeping the highest quality of their wines year after year.
A cabernet in a classic style with notes of mocha, dried cherries, coffee and a bit of menthol. The palate is fresh with the soft elegance of fine, firm tannins. For roast short ribs.
