Nicely fruity with notes of watermelon and watermelon rind, with hints of banana, grapefruit and flowers. Zesty on entry and nicely light bodied with a good core of red cherry fruit. There’s a touch of mineral, adding some complexity on the palate and a lovely, almost stemmy, herbal tone on the back end. This is a bit simple but very friendly with a nicely fruity finish. 86pts
Slightly emollient on the nose with a bit of cream and apricot. Honey flavors with a bit of tea leaf and a light finish. Really interesting wine, but loses half a point for some slight plastic on the nose.
Funky tropical aromas w/ basil, and tomatoes and green peppers on the mouth. Nice mouthfeel, very savory.
Bubblegum and cherry slush puppie flavors with a slight vegetal kick. Unlike any other rose I have had. As always I paired this rose with middle eastern food. In this case it was a ground lamb pita. yummmy.
Amazingly versatile little wine we have here. I can't think of something this wouldn't go with. I want to buy cases of this and leave them at my pretend summer Hamptons house.
Red berries, mostly strawberry, on the nose. Dry on the palate. Bought it for $10 - good deal. 90 pts.

This is a finely textured red melding tart cherry flavors into a firm, rich wine. There’s light, cherry liqueur–like sweetness in the end, setting it up for baby lamb chops off the grill.
El Coto de Rioja, located in Oyón, was founded in 1970 by a group of winemakers committed to creating a new type of Rioja. Its first bottling was released in 1975. Today, El Coto is the leading brand in Spain and among the top-selling Spanish wines in Europe. Five-hundred hectares of estate vineyards are located in La Rioja Alta’s village of Cenicero, near the east bank of the Najerilla River, a tributary of the Ebro. Facing northwest, vineyard soils are mostly ferric clay, sand and limestone, which contribute structure, power and elegant minerality, respectively, to the wines. The recently incorporated Los Almendros estate, shared with Barón de Ley, adds an additional 300 hectares of vineyards to the impressive estate holdings. Additional grapes are sourced from 2,000 hectares in Rioja Alavesa. Here, limestone, clay and stony soils make aromatic, expressive wines with great finesse. With the exception of “Coto Real” Reserva and "Coto de Imaz" Gran Reserva, all reds are aged in new American oak barrels, the classic Rioja marriage of wine and wood. Fresh as can be, with pure aromas of nectarine and cherry blossoms. The palate is light but refreshing and lithe, with semisweet, punchy flavors of orange, peach and pith. Finishes clean and light in the classic, subtle, utilitarian way that a good Rioja roseacute; should.
The 2010 El Coto Rosado is made up of equal parts of Garnacha and Tempranillo fermented and aged in stainless steel. This medium pink offering delivers rose petal and strawberry aromas and flavors with a touch of clove and cinnamon added to the mix. It is a dry, savory, tasty Rose for drinking over the next 12ndash;18 months. It, too, is a solid value.
Crisp, tight and bright, this is a vivacious young Rioja roasdo; simple, but spicy and juicy with white cherry fruit.
