This warm, sunny, expressive Mediterranean red is composed of 40% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 20% Carignan, and 5% Mourvèdre grown on the clay-limestone soils of Vingrau, near Corbières. Elevage takes place half in stainless steel and half in oak (demi-muid and barrique) that is at least two vintages old prior to bottling. Les Meilleurs Vins de France 2009: Jean Gardiés took over the family domaine in 1990, giving priority to the production of wines from the Côtes du Roussillon, in this way reducing the importance of sweet wines, which don't represent more than 4 hectares of vineyard land. The reds here are particularly interesting, with a lovely [sense of] volume in the mouth...
