Côtes du Rhône-Villages Rasteau Cave de Rasteau Dame Victoria 2010
RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
This mouth-puckering concoction has a deep cherry robe and a mute nose of currants with a hint of blueberry. There is some stemminess on the bouquet as well - possibly due to the Mourvedre component. The wine is more structured, less juicy and less unctious than more Grenache-dominated Rasteau, but the mouth-feel suggests aging to 2017 or 2018. An almond-like acerbity on the finish and a slightly weak fruit core are the only detractions at this point. Good value. 88 points.

Comprised of Grenache, Cinsault and Carignane, this simple style CDR is very pretty in color and the aromas come off rather succinctly: violet, wood, vanilla and earth. Tart cherry is most prevalent, with soft tannins and a gentle midpalate. There is an undertone of stewed fruit here that lingers in the end, but the tartness cleans it right up. If braised short ribs are your thing, this is your wine.
