The nose was plush with ripe blackberry fruits, violet candies, herbs and sweet spices. On the palate, it was velvety with intense concentration, yet balanced with acidity that kept it fresh and juicy. Sweet blackberry, cola and violets from the bouquet filled the senses. The finish was remarkably long with lasting dark fruits that seemed to change from ripe to tart as they melted from the palate. (93 points)

Winemaker's Notes:

"Another killer effort from Sabon, and one of my favorites of the entire portfolio is the 2010 Cotes du Rhone Les Garrigues. This wine is 100% percent Grenache from old vines aged in foudre and comes from just across the appellation border of Chateauneuf du Pape. I have called it a “Provencal fruit bomb” in the past, and it is once again in 2010. From a fabulous terroir, the kirsch liqueur and resiny pine forest notes as well as licorice and copious quantities of black currant fruit are all present in this elegant, full-bodied wine, which in 2010 has terrific density and richness, but slightly more acidity and definition than its counterpart in 2009...91-94" WA 10/11
