Coteaux du Languedoc la Bergerie Rouge Lhortus 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2012 Pic Saint Loup La Bergerie Classique is 65% Syrah, 25% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre, with the Grenache and Mourvedre aged in stainless steel and the Syrah in barrel. Orliac’s entry level wine, it over-delivers and is reminiscent of a Cote-Rotie with its white pepper, olive, underbrush, blackberry and even hints of bacon fat on the nose. Medium-bodied, elegant and beautifully seamless and silky, with fine tannin and good acidity, it should be enjoyed over the coming 3-5 years...90" WA 2/14 "One of the leading estates in the Pic Saint Loup region, Domaine de l’Hortus has been run by Jean Orliac since the 1970s and covers roughly 55 hectares. While he sold all of his grapes to the local Cave Cooperative at the start, he built a new cellar in 1990 and released his first vintage.

Domaine de l'Hortus:
Nice to visit. In a stunning region of France the wine makery and vinyard are situated just of the main road. The tasting room is above the botteling line, which gives a true feeling of authenticity.
