Côte Rôtie l'Eglantine Ferraton 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Côte Rotie L'Eglantine displays wonderful aromas of crushed
raspberries, truffles and spices. It is very elegant and complete with
particularly well integrated tannins. Farmed on south and south-east facing
terraces, at the Blonde end of the spectrum, both geographically and
stylistically, L'Eglantine is aged one third in demi-muid,
two thirds in barrique (15% new).

LIMITED AVAILABILITY Georges Vernay is known as the “King of Condrieu” and was responsible for the growth and worldwide recognition of this small appellation during the 1950s.His estate covers 16 hectares of vineyards, 3 of which are in the Côte Rotie appellation. The steep and uneven vineyards make mechanical labour impossible. The vines are manually propagated without the use of residual herbicide or insecticide. George’s daughter, Christine, returned to her roots with Paul Anselem, her Parisian husband, and has looked after the winemaking since 1997. Grapes : 90% Syrah and 10% Viognier Region : France / Rhone / Cote Rotie AOC Maker : Christine Vernay Notes : Benchmark Syrah style of smoky black olives with great power and structure. Smooth and elegant on the palate and the long finish ABV : 12.5 %

the 2007 Cote Rotie La Landonne was vinified with 100% stems (whereas the 2007 La Turque was completely destemmed). The result is an opaque purple-colored wine displaying beautiful aromas of camphor
