Cosentino Winery Zinfandel California Cigarzin 2005
A wine that knows no boundaries, Cigarzin, is a California appellation Zinfandel. Predominantly from “Old Vines” in the Lodi district, the expanded appellation gives the winemaker more freedom to create a balanced Zinfandel that is not only supple, but also intense in flavor for every vintage year. This truly expresses the Cosentino philosophy of letting the fruit guide the winemaking process. Cigarzin is the true artisans Zinfandel.
very standard...not bad not great...just average.
jam/berry scent, velvety/jammy taste
14.6% alcohol and a nose that smells even stronger. You know they made this strong by the name alone - designed to cut through heavy cigar smoke - it's going to be a stomper! A lighter color than expected. In the mouth this is a fruit bomb, intensely spicy - like mulled wine. Quite a kick from the young, and still tight, tannins. At the moment this wine would benefit from decanting. Obviously a smokers wine.
Pomegraneate, rhubarb, red cherries, and cream flavors intermingle in a rich, concentrated style with spicy notes.
Via dei Corsi after an autumn rain (evening time) Tomato and berries on river rocks!
Bold, strong cigar smoke aroma. Good with steak
wood, leather, earth, berries, tomato, licorice
