Cosentino Winery the Wines Cabernet Franc California 2005
Some of the fruit was punch cap fermented in one ton bins for between 10 and 16 days. Each lot was barrel aged separately in primarily French oak barrels, then racked and blended three times before bottling, unfined. California Predominantly Cabernet Franc with a touch of Merlot for softening. Black fruit, clove, allspice and vanilla in the nose. Youthful and intense with white pepper, red cherry and soft mineral overtones that carry through the mouth into a long finish. This full-bodied wine has long, ripe tannins with good structure and is excellently balanced. It should age well for the next 10-12 years.
Full bodied with lots of pepper and spice. Big ripe tannins. Had this with a grilled steak and it was outstanding.
Very affordable and reliably smooth even without aging. I stock up whenever I see it at BevMo for $14 a bottle. You can find it a few times a year in the "Other Red" section at BevMo.
