Cornerstone Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2000
Winemaker's Notes:
This tends to be more fruity and jammy, in the California , than our Cornerstone Vineyard bottling, which is more Bordeaux-like. Two vineyards on Howell Mountain, Beatty Ranch and Black Sears Vineyard (at 1800 and 2200 ft. elevation respectively), compose the Cabernet Sauvignon foundation of this wine. A little Malbec and Cab Franc were added for lushness. In the nose there is a core of smoky, blackberry fruit with notes of coffee and old-fashioned horehound candy, and an exotic lily/floral component. The palate displays hillside intensity with blackberry flavors repeating the aroma and bright, fleshy raspberry and cranberry fruit supported by hints of mocha. This is a wine that lingers on the palate, very smooth, with lots of depth and complexity.969 cases were bottled.
