What to Expect
While Burgundy is renowned as the home of Pinot Noir, it is also the source for the ubiquitous Chardonnay grape. In these gently rolling hills Chardonnay achieves some of its most profound expressions. Appellations such as Meursault, Montrachet, and Corton Charlemagne proudly take their place among the most sought-after in all the world of wine. With a richness and complexity few wines can match, Chardonnay from Burgundy adds classic hints of flinty and chalky soil with nuances tones of nuts, cinnamon, honey and butter to the rich, sometimes unctuous but rarely heavy, ripe orchard fruits that the grapes are capable of providing. White Burgundy can improve in the bottle for decades and is arguably the most age-worthy dry white wine in the world.

Editorial Reviews
Soft nutty oak and spice notes meld with the ripe orchard fruits on the nose. Big apple and Asian pear fruit notes with a wild flower top note. This is surprisingly soft and expansive in the mouth with a lush feel and golden fruit notes that envelope the aromatic oak and spice notes. Very soft an easy going with nice Chardonnay fruit but this sacrifices a bit of height for breadth in the mouth. The finish is driven by a nice two-toned fruit and spice interplay that is subtle but with decent length. 88pts

Only 5000 bottles of “La Roche” Mâcon-Vergisson are produced each year. While Decanter has not yet reviewed the 2007 vintage, the acclaimed wine magazine highly recommended “La Roche” 2006, Mâcon-Vergisson in a blind tasting of 168 wines from the Mâcon-Village region, rating it four out of five stars (one of only 14 wines in the tasting to receive this ranking). Rich and well balanced with ripe white fruits, minerality and good acidity, the 2007 vintage is expected to be as good, if not better, based on harvest conditions.
Wine Spectator has given the 2007 vintage a very read more...
