The 2005 vintage of Core Hard Core is made up of 60% Mourvedre and 25% Grenache from Alta Mesa Vineyard add 15% Cabernet Sauvignon from Santa Barbara Highlands vineyard and you have a winner. Aged 21 months in 70% new French and 30% American barrels and aged 7 months in the bottle. Its the very last of the 91 point Wine Spectator scoring blend and youd be hard pressed to find any out there, remember this one is in 1/2 bottle size (375ml) - perfect for a picnic.

"The brilliant 2006 hard CORE boasts terrific aromatics of black currants, cherries, incense, spice, underbrush, and Provencal herbs. With fabulous fruit, medium to full body, a big, rich, savory mouthfeel, and a long, textured finish, it is irresistible now, and should age nicely for 4-5 years. These are all creative, individualistic wines that reveal considerable soul and character. One has to admire the wacky art on the label as well as the non-conformist blends. Most important from a consumer’s perspective, the wines are very interesting and deliver loads of pleasure. All of them possess terrific aromatics." ~Robert Parker's wine Advocate #172
