Corbieres Ac 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

TASTING NOTES: The grapes for this wine were selected from the Alexander Valley, Knights Valley and the Russian River Valley appellations. The fruit from the Alexander Valley and Knights Valley gives the wine ripe melon and fig flavors, while the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Valley fruit lends lemongrass and dried herb notes to achieve a blend of balanced fruit and herbal spice flavors.

Chatea St. Jean’s life started in 1920, when it was built as a summer home for Ernest and Maude Goff. It is located in Sugarloaf Ridge in the Sonoma Valley near the legendary Kenwood, California. While the 250 acres of land were originally planted with white grapes, Prohibition encouraged the planting of prunes and walnuts instead. When Chateau St. Jean was founded in 1973, the chateau was restored and opened to the public in honor of the Goff family. As the company says, “only the finest” from their wines, and they delivered on that promise in quick time. In 1999, Chateau St. Jean’s 1996 Cinq Cépages Cabernet Sauvignon won “Wine of the Year,” making the chateau the first Sonoma winery to receive this award. Chateau St. Jean was one of the pioneers in vineyard designation, stressing the importance of a grape’s origin. They didn’t just talk the talk - they took grapes from successful vineyards and made individually labeled Chardonnays, Pinot Noir, and Fumé Blanc. With the hard work and dedication of Margo Van Staaveren, the winemaker for Chateau St. Jean, the winery is able to make high quality wines with a persistent signature flavor profile across different vintages. A really nice full-bodied fume. A bit of citrus, melon and mineral.

Very smooth buttery caramel taste. Went great with seafood - Haddock, Mussels. Paid $12.99 for it in Cape Cod

Closed nose, with a little floral lemon/grapefruit coming through. Rich, buttery, oaky. Low acidity makes this a quaffer that would lose against food. Simple. $16

Sie entdecken eine intensiv rubinfarbene Robe im Glas und ein feines Bouquet von Beeren in der Nase. Lebendigkeit und Geschmeidigkeit bilden am Gaumen eine harmonische Einheit.

Wine Enthusiast ReviewRated 91 EDITORS CHOICEThis bottling continues to impress after all these years with its complexity and sheer deliciousness. The '06 shows charred barrel fermentation notes of pungent, smoky wood, but theres a great heart of citrus, melon and pepper spice flavors that makes the wine rich and rewarding. It's made even better by zesty acidity and a bone-dry finish.Wine Advocate ReviewRated 91Always a winner, the 2006 Fume Blanc Le Petit Etoile offers a complex bouquet of herbs, melons, figs, lemon grass, and honeysuckle. Fruity, with superb definition, light to medium body, and a clean, fresh finish, it should last for several years.Wine Tasting notesEnticing aromas of melon, pineapple, green tea and lime zest begin the nose on this Fum Blanc. Vibrant acidity and bright fruit flavors of kiwi fruit and a touch of grapefruit awaken the palate and lead to a beautiful finish with hints of key lime.

This Fumé Blanc is bright and fresh. Showing notes of grapefruit, lemongrass, and jasmine, this wine will pair well with grilled chicken and seafood dishes.
