Red Rock Terrace, a warm microclimate, is 7 acres of north facing vineyard. The red tinted soil is high in iron content. The wine from Red Rock Terrace is the most accessible and earliest drinkable of all our wines. Our winemaker describes Red Rock Terrace as “having velvety tannins, rich and well balanced, medium dark ruby color with cherry, mint and black currant flavors.”
Over the past decade Red Rock has gained an enviable reputation for producing superb ultra premium wines. They are handcrafted on the estate from vines that creep up the side of a dormant volcano west of Geelong. The mineral-rich soil, low rainfall and cool climate result in a unique terroir which, when coupled with sensitive winemaking, yields distinctly individual wines with power and finesse.
Delicate flavors with soft, subtle tannins. Amazingly crafted wine for the price.
I'm more of a white Wine lover but there are several Reds that I just love! This is one of them! Believe me you will too!
Am I suppose to rate this myself? If So I'd give it 5 stars, Mike Loykasek doesn't make a single bad Wine! If this is the only wine of his then you need to try some of the other Wines he makes. He just came out with another Gunfighter Napa Diamond Mountain District Cab. Outstanding!! Same price as the Blend. I'd be willing to pay more!
I bought this after trying the Red Diamond Merlot, which was perfectly balanced, the way merlots can be for me. This cab was very simple and one dimentional when I first opened it. Now, 3 days later, it developed a lot of jam flavors which I just now recognized at all. Not rotten, but overripe. Wondering if this comes from overripe grapes at picking, or just the overheld wine sitting on my desk for about 24 hours longer than it should have. I definitely disagree with some wine writers out there who say that you can’t hold red wine for over 2 days. I’ve had decent wines after they’ve been sitting on my counter for over a week. I know when I taste vinegar, and this wasn’t it. Back to this cab though. With Cabot cheddar it creates this intense chocolate taste in my mouth. Flash of milk and salt, flash of fruit, then melting milk chocolate. That to me sounded so pretentious, so snobby. Except that it wasn’t. I think that not enough wine writers know of words such as “I think…”, or “I feel…”, or “This reminds me of…” It’s always, “This is…”, or “This is not…” To me, wine brings up so many memories, whether of other wines, or of the taste of other fruit, or of a moment in my life. Wine is so personal, that it can’t really be categorized as having this or that flavor. It’s more about the stable complexity and the atmosphere that it creates. Zins are more outdoor BBQ, Cabs are couch and blanket. Sauvignion Blanc is more peppered tilapia, Viognier is more lemon bars. But only to me. So then, you might ask, why the price difference? Because, I think, more carefully designed wines can create more tastes on your tongue, and more pictures in your mind, than the Two Buck Chuck you’ve just put in your shopping cart.
Deep red clear color. Fruit and grass aromas. Slightly bitter bite with a smooth aftertaste of berry. Middle of the road Rating, not bad but not special enough to request again.
Big awesome BBQ wine. Goes great with a big steak

Francis Coppola Diamond Collection Black Label claret, as its British-derived name implies, is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine created in the same style as classic Bordeaux. We use all five Bordeaux varietals in the blend—Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot—and harvest grapes from Napa and Sonoma as well as the warmer El Dorado region. The 2006 vintage marks the first year we produced claret at our new home in Sonoma County. Being able to craft the wine from start to finish at our own facility helps us heighten the quality-level of claret even further. Perhaps, most exciting for us was the fact we could source Merlot and Cabernet Franc this vintage from our Estate vines in Geyserville. As 2006 marks the first year we blended in fruit from the Estate, we were extremely pleased to find that the quality of the fruit surpassed our expectations. Our 2006 claret is supple and rich with smooth tannins, ripe berry flavors and seductive aromas. Create a classic pairing by serving it with roasted lamb or a petite filet with Gorgonzola butter.

Wine Tasting NotesGive me a slice of crusty bread, some extra virgin olive oil, a chunk of parmesan cheese and a bottle of this cab - and I'm good for a heavenly afternoon. This cabernet flaunts a spicy nose with some tobacco and cherry aromas. Intense rich red fruits on the palate are complimented with a slight toasty note on the finish.
