Copain Pinot Noir Tous Ensemble 2011
90 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): Dark red. Sexy, perfumed aromas of red berries, Asian spices and potpourri. Juicy and light on its feet, offering precise redcurrant and bitter cherry flavors that gain sweetness with air. Silky and expansive on the finish, which leaves star anise and candied rose notes behind. This is delicious right now. (May 2012)
This stop at Copain was part of a Russian River trip! This was an interesting blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. Light in body, this had notes of raspberry, although it was more spice than fruit. Good crisp acid but it just did not fit very well with me. For more on the tasting, please visit http://dionyshius.blogspot.com/2012/07/russian-river-copain.html
Not a particularly well-balanced wine but very interesting and positive for the price. Delicate but assertive, the nose has some funk and leathery aspects that contrast with the juicy mouth feel. Not overly-fruity but juicy with some tart notes. Finishes where it started with oak and vanilla. Quite a ride!
