Copain Pinot Noir Monument Tree 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

92 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): Vivid red. Fresh raspberry and cherry on the nose, with suave spicecake and rose pastille qualities adding complexity. Juicy, open-knit red fruit preserves flavors show a seamless texture and pick up spiciness on the back half. Finishes with impressive vibrancy and focus, leaving floral and berry notes behind. (May 2012)

First thoughts were directed to cooler regions and the high altitude region near Orange in NSW. In recent years this district has developed a reputation for wines with intense flavours and complexity. In the 1950s the CSIRO established a pilot vineyard in the region immediately west of Orange in a slightly lower and warmer environment. This micro-climate offered the prospect of reliable and complete ripening of red grape varieties every year. The CSIRO wines showed great promise, but the times were different, and the research almost forgotten. Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
