Rich, layered, intense nose of smoke, coffee, blackberry jam with complicatng notes of milk chocolate and cracked pepper. This is big and powerful in the mouth yet not clumsy or feeling forced with it's big, lush mouthfeel being very well balanced and the structural elements showing excellent integration. Very young and still mostly obvious bright berry fruit but the finish offers almost delicate notes and shows good layering. Cellar for 2-3 years before trying again.

The impressive line-up of 2004 Syrahs includes the 2004 Syrah Broken Leg Vineyard. An exotic, nearly over-the-top perfume of acacia flowers, blueberries, and blackberries is followed by a wine boasting huge body, terrific structure, and vibrant under... Robert Parker. Winemaker's Notes:

2004 Copain Garys Syrah From a famous site in the Santa Lucia Highlands, the 2004 Syrah Garys Vineyard (100% whole clusters used) is an opaque purple-colored powerhouse offering a beautiful perfume of blackberries, licorice, pepper, underbrush/forest floor, and subtle new oak. With great intensity, beautiful purity, and a spectacular finish, it should provide immense pleasure over the next 10 years.
