I was a little scared that a $22 wine from California would be an unknown blend. I get some chardonnay and sauvignon blanc, but there's a lot going on here. Oak, spice and tropical fruits on the nose, some very nice sweet fruits and minerality in the mouth. Lychee, sweet pears, syrup etc. Rather peppery finish. I'd agree that this might not be easy to match with food, perhaps with spicy asian dishes (thai etc) it might work. Personally, I'd just chill it to all hell and drink it outdoors.

A very good white with a very creamy, smooth character. It's very apparent that it is Sauvignon Blanc heavy. You're greeted by smacks of apple and white grape, with a smooth pear finish that leaves a tangy, almost bitter (but in a good way) aftertaste. A good wine that I would definitely drink again happily with my next seafood dish.
an all-time favorite. love the fruit forward flavor of apricots ... not sweet yet not dry. a nice treat for holidays.
Great table wine. My fiance's favorite and a good reason for me not to drink red.
A really elegant white. The Muscat and Semillon round out the palate and the hints of nutmeg are enticing in the bouquet. Very refreshing on a hot day. Lots of peach and apricot with just a little honeysuckle.

Clear and bright in the glass with a lemon yellow core. Very fragrant; bold honeysuckle florals with big lemon, lime and orange zest followed by a touch of sweet yellow pear. Made by Caymus' Chuck Wagner, this is a stunning white. 2005 is our favorite vintage of Conundrum to date, with a gentle price. A blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat, Chardonnay, Semillon and Viognier. Intense, lush aromas of apricot, white peach and honeysuckle, a creamy, mouth-filling texture; and a crisp, refreshing citrus finish.
Notes on the Conundrum White Table Wine 2005 : WINEMAKER NOTES: Conundrum is truly a California wine, including grapes from the Napa, Monterey, Santa Barbara and Tulare counties. For the 2005 vintage, grapes were brought in over a two and a-half month period beginning August 30th - a couple weeks later than normal. Sauvignon Blanc was first, coming from eight different Napa Valley vineyards, where the warm weather can bring out this grape's green-melon-like character at one vineyard site and its fresh-cut-grass character at another site. The next grape variety to ripen was Muscat Canelli, from warm Tulare County. Muscat is the grape that gives Conundrum its high-toned, floral aroma, along with some equally floral, cool-climate Viognier we grew in Monterey County. We also grew most of our Chardonnay and other varietals in Monterey County, one of the coolest, driest growing regions in California. The long season therewe harvested Chardonnay through November 19allows the grapes to develop deeply ripe flavors and golden color while retaining great natural acidity. Because we wanted to maintain the individual character of each grape variety from each vineyard site, we chose to ferment about one-quarter of the lots in stainless steel (to maintain freshness and crispness). For complexity and texture, we fermented and aged most of the wines, three-quarters, in oak barrels, some new and some seasoned, for up to ten months. When it was time to put the blend together, we had almost sixty different flavor layers to work with. To me, this vintage shows an exceptional integration of these layers, with aromas of peach/apricot and honeysuckle; flavors of apricot, green melon and pear backed by notes of tropical fruit and spicy vanilla; a lush, creamy texture; and a crisp, balancing finish with lingering notes of citrus.
