Continuum Red Bordeaux Blend Napa Valley Proprietary Red 2009
The 2009 Continuum is a magnificent and deeply sensual wine; we believe it to be an exceptional reflection of our unique estate. The majority of the fruit, more than 80%, is from our Pritchard Hill estate vineyards.These higher elevation sites with their red rocky soils grow Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot, and Merlot with nerve, vitality and concentration. In general, the 2009 lots from Pritchard Hill have astonishing vibrancy and definition which is readily apparent in the finished wine. The 2009 is lush, rich, and elegant showing supple, complex tannins layered with graphite and autumnal notes, all leading to an impressive extended finish. Aromas of wild cherry, dark chocolate, bergamot zest, and summer rose lead to blackberry, cardamom, and black truffle on the palate. A wine of wonderful power and elegance, the 2009's inherent harmony and finesse make it delicious now, while assuring tremendous ageabilty.
Very good wine but young. Decanted for an hour but could have used more time. Bright ripe red fruit in the nose mixed in with spice, caramel and oak. Mellow taste with spice, oak and red fruit under it. Medium finished. Opened up as dinner went a long. Have two more bottles I'll try to age a bit more to review again.

Cassis, currants, tobacco, and oak. A very subtle hint of spring flowers, not something I usually pick up on with Cab; more typical note from a Syrah flavor profile. Finishes with some espresso, tar, and licorice. Very complex, and marvelously delicious.

Continuum is the newest project of the Mondavi family, being a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc all coming from the Oakville appellation. Super limited production, this red exhibits a velvet mouth feel, with notes of currents, roasted coffee bean, and baking spices.
