Continuum Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Member Review by sufdog420:

Mr. Parker gave this a 98 and I agree. This is a remarkable bottle. truely an experience and well crafted by Tim Mondavi. This blend has many personalities and was most surprising. It has made it as a standard in my cellar. Lots of berries. Blueberry, Blackberry, Smoke are the predominent.

All great wines begin with a great sine. From our early days in St. Helena to our father Roberts’s establishment of his winery in Oakville, my family has recognized due importance of this; Continuum takes the next step. Continuum had to be a hillside site, on the east side of the valley with a westerly aspect. Continuum also needed the right soil; volcanic, iron rich soils no grow wins with great structure, focus and agebillty. Four generations and a lifetime of experience brought us to this estate on Pritchard Hill where the perfect combination of soils, exposure and climate are present to grow wine in the company of the world’s finest. Vintage: 2007 11/12/2010

Rating: 91/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the August 2010 issue. Deep and brooding on the nose with elements of black fruits, sweet cream, smoke and toast combining for a rich and riveting start, the 2007 Continuum is a deep and very flamboyant wine that holds nothing back. Very ripe and very full-bodied, but also uncommonly well-balanced for a wine of its temperament and size, it has plenty of fruity muscle with which to buffer its ample tannins, and it does a fine job of hiding its heat. It is not now nor ever will be a delicate wine, but aging will prove that its richness does not rule out refinement.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Cellar for future drinking. Wine will improve with bottle aging.
