Cono Sur Organic Sauvignon Blanc 2013
Editorial Reviews for Cono Sur Organic Sauvignon Blanc
Riper than their regular bottling with a bit of guava, nice spice and a touch of roasted chili. Bright, dry and firm on entry with nice lime fruit up front followed by a hint of tropical fruit. Round, slightly grassy and showing a bit of currant fruit on the back end. A nice mineral wash with the fruit on the finish. 87pts
Sweet tart on the nose with some compost, herbaceous notes over a bit of pickle barrel. This is fairly low in acid, sort of lying across the palate with a nice low intensity core of blueberry and sour cherry fruit that leads to a short, slightly drying finish. 84pts
Some ash and sun-dried tomato greet the nose along with black currant fruit and some weediness. A bit murky on the palate, with dark and fairly intense flavors that seem a bit muddy and indistinct. There's some nice, slightly jammy black cherry fruit on the mid-palate and some cocoa and mocha oak notes as well before the oak, burnt and slightly bitter flavor takes over on the moderately long finish. This feels a bit too extracted. 82pts
A bit woody on the nose, forest floor red currant, Christmas spice, sandalwood, tea, a bit chunky, a bit sweet up front, nice rose hip accent with a shading of bitter orange oil up front over rather black cherry almost black currant fruit, more forest floor emerges on the midpalate, a little grapefruit character on the slightly compact, slightly extracted finish. This needs another 2 years 91pts
Very complex Pinot.
Love this wine. The liquor store, where I moved to, didn't carry it, so they brought it in for me. They decided to put a case on the shelf and they haven't been able to keep it stocked since. You can't beat the price for a 1.5L bottle.
Two and a half glasses
Funky nose, with sulfur and formaldehyde in the aroma. Very distinctive, but not too unpleasant. There's a nuttiness and chocolatiness hiding there. The mouth is somewhat sharply acidic, with an astringent bitterness. Tart raspberry finish.
Nice mix of chocolate and tobacco in the nose, very even. The mouth is fairly gentle, with indulgent red fruit and dark chocolate overtones. Really easy to please
A final step up in quality and price, the Ocio label is the further cream of the crop slice of the 20 barrels. Med+ ruby purple colour. Clean, youthful med+ nose of blood plums and dark strawberries. Med+ bodied wine with plush rich fruit flavours, but unlike the other wines is much more masculine in structure. There is good cleansing acidity, and the continual trend of soft tannins persists. Nice. Drink now – 2018. 91+/100.
A blend of the top 20 barrels from this single vineyard, it’s going to be hard to beat this price for such selection. A clear step up in quality compared to the Bicycle and Vision Pinot Noirs. Clear, deep ruby colour. Perfumed nose dominated by strawberries, then cherries and dark earth. A med+ bodied wine with cherry and plum fruit flavours. Nice clean acids and soft tannins round off a pleasant wine. 14.5% alc. Drink now – 2016. 89/100.

Rich and deep bright red color with a complex and developed nose that is governed by sweet wild fruit aromas, where notes of cherries and berries are enhanced by slight toasty hints. This Pinot definitely has a personality of its own. It's tasteful, with soft tannins and an excellent structure.
The strong Pacific Ocean influence and red clayish soils concur to foster this refreshing, crisp, pale yellow-green wine. In nose, very fine grapefruit, white flowers and citric hints combine with a perfect mineral character. It's an expressive Sauvignon
This citrusy white has a pleasant grassy undertone to the white grapefruit pulp and light tangerine notes that stretch out in the cream-tinged finish. Drink now.
A fine 2011 sauvignon, this is fresh and light with subtle varietal scents of herbs and citrus. The wineandrsquo;s acidity pricks the tongue with a gentle tickle. An aperitif white to serve with sautandeacute;ed prawns.
Pinot Noir is trickling in from the Southern Hemisphere; particularly noteworthy is this line of value-oriented Pinots from Chile. With voluptuous texture and bright red fruits all in the right place, Cono Sur's balanced, California-style Pinot puts the emphasis on freshness and ripe fruit.
Very friendly, with effusive cherry and licorice snap notes backed by a lively finish. Drink now.
Aromas of cherry and raspberry bring a slight earthy stemminess, while the palate is light and zesty, with semisharp plum and pie cherry fruit flavors and a dash of red sucking candy. Medium-long at best on the finish, with citrus, tang and pepper notes.
