Offers up a big bundle of black cherry notes, laced with just a hint of minerality. The tannins are surprisingly integrated and smooth on this one. A dash of cocoa powder on the finish. All in all, a beautiful wine.

Not quite as impressive as the 2001 vintage, yet very satisfying!

Aromas of freshly roasted coffee beans, ripe black cherries, bittersweet chocolate and new leather emanate from this classic Napa Valley Cabernet. The wine glides smoothly across the palate with flavors of sweet berries accented with walnut and oak flavors.

For this Napa Valley Cab fruit from the Collins Holystone Vineyard in the St. Helena AVA, owned by Conn Creek Winery founders Bill and Kathleen Collins, forms the heart of this 2008 blend. The vineyard enjoys a warm climate, and is a consistent early-ripening site. Long days of temperate weather during harvest created flavor complexity and full maturity in the vineyard’s small berries. The remainder of the blend is comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon fruit from appellations within the broader Napa Valley, including Stag’s Leap District, Mt. Veeder, Atlas Peak, Spring Mountain, Yountville, Rutherford and Oakville.

It scored 93 points in Wine Enthusiast Magazine who said "It is a splendid testimony to the winemaker’s ability to take disparate lots and make them harmonious. Just a beautiful Cabernet, dry and softly luscious, with complex blackberry, black currant, anise and cedar flavors. A wonderful experience now, and it should develop in the bottle for several years." Limited!

Wine & Spirits gave this a Best Buy, scoring it 90 points and saying "Pungent and superripe when first poured, this wine's dimpled black fruit character turns toward blueberries and mineral-inflected tannins with air. It's substantial and intense, needing hours in the decanter or several years in bottle for the tannins to eat the sweetness of the wine."
