Condado de Oriza Ribera del Duero Roble 2006
Condado de Oriza is a label produced by the Pagos del Rey ‘Olmedillo de Roa’ winery in the Burgos province of Ribera del Duero, Spain. The first harvest was in 2002 and the principal winemaker is Alberto Viyuela. The wines are 100% Tinto del Pais, the local name for Tempranillo. Each wine in the portfolio differs according to length of aging time and type of barrel (or not) used to store them before bottling and release.
Nose has powerful sweet tones of cinnamon disc candies, spice, cheese rind and candied fruit. It's got nice berry fruit flavors and a good texture on the palate, but it's not very complex and doesn't offer up much beyond the basic fruit notes. Enjoyable but not remarkable.
