Powerful wet carpet aroma. Fruity, smooth, with almost non-existent tannins.
A classic Chilean Cab expressing some vegetal aromas (asparagus, spiced green pepper) alongside some ripe plum notes . The ruby color is enticing while the palette exudes a stemmy character. Overall, a good value and versatile wine.
Pleasantly fragrant with violets and blueberries. More tart berry flavor on the palate with spicy finish. This would be a great value wine for big gatherings with cheese and snacks.
The intital attack was sharp on the tip of my toungue.. then it just fell off a cliff! It was an empty roller coaster ride. Even after some time... it opened up like a tiny blossom. Acid is medium... maybe it'd taste better with food.... not a bottle of enjoying solo. From the other reveiws... perhaps your pallete will have better luck! :)

100% Cabernet Sauvignon .Dark, rub-red color. Plum and cherry notes with a touch of vanilla. On the palate, the wine is concentrated and soft, with rich flavors of cherry and toasty oak. Xplorador C
Notions of pain grille, graphite, violets, spice box, and black currants lead to a structured wine with loads of layered fruit, incipiently complex flavors, and enough ripe tannin to evolve for another 3-4 years.
Opens with briar, raspberry and a spot of char. The palate is basic, simple in feel, maybe a touch curt, but overall the wine is fresh and tastes of plum and herbal berry fruit. It's slightly dry and leafy, but it's bright and fresh in the mouth, with good balance.
Juicy flavors of ripe Morello cherries float on the silky texture of this cabernet. It's light enough to drink chilled with grilled salmon.
Smoky and smooth up front, with bacon, rubber and pure black-fruit aromas. The palate is equally pure and deep, with lush blackberry, cassis tannins and proper balance. Spicy and tasting of licorice on the finish, with an overall appeal that justifies its price. Excellent Chilean Cabernet that can compete with Napa and elsewhere. Drink now through 2015.
Incredibly saturated and lively for such an affordable cabernet, with ripe aromas of leather, dried herbs and a hint of pickle barrel. It whets the whistle with currant and berry flavors accented by spice and licorice. Xplorador Cab is almost always a solid buy, maybe more so in 2003 than usual. Think of it as the poster child for value reds from Chile.
This vineyard block, on a high terrace directly above the Maipo River, was planted in 1981. Ignacio Recabarren selected these vines when he started the Terrunyo project in 1998. His latest release has classic notes of Upper Maipo cabernet –– soft menthol touches and herbal details over a tense structure. The heat of the 2007 vintage gives this a soft feel, its gentle acidity refreshing the ripeness of the fruit flavors.
