Concha Y Toro Terrunyo Pirque Alto Maipo Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

*96 points - Decanter Magazine's Top 30 Great Value Chilean Cabernet Sauvignons - March 2015* The Terrunyo range has been created by one of Chile's leading winemakers, Ignacio Recabarren for Concha y Toro.In recognition of his work, Ignacio was awarded the Innovation Award in Chilean Wine 2012, a lifetime achievement award given by Chilean magazines Wikén and Revista del Campo. His wines are very individual and characterful and show just what great wines Chile can produce, this is classy. A full Cabernet Sauvignon, the grapes for this superb wine are selected from specific blocks. 85% from vines in the Pirque Vineyard (the vineyard that supplies flagship, Don Melchor) and 15% from 30- year- old vines in the Puente Alto Vineyard. Aged 14 months in French oak barrels to add complexity. 'Mainly from vines planted in Pirque two decades ago, plus 30-year-old vines from Puente Alto, this superb Cabernet shows all the freshness and nerve of a very cold year in the Maipo. Spices, mint, pepper and juicy flavours of cassis and black fruit, this has the structure of a solid Cabernet to age. And its price is ridiculous! Drink 2015-2022.' - Decanter Magazine, March 2015
